COLUMBUS, OH – As autumn approaches, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is preparing for a series of harvest festivals that will celebrate Ohio’s rich agricultural traditions and the natural resources that continue to help bring forth bountiful annual harvests.

On September 18-20, Lake Loramie State Park in Minster, Ohio, will host its annual Fall Festival and Campout. The special weekend will give park visitors a chance to learn about antique machinery, see a variety of craft displays and enjoy the entertaining lumberjack show and mountain man encampment. For more information, call 937-295-2011.

Another fall favorite takes place at Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County. Ohio Heritage Days, September 26-27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, is one of the state’s largest outdoor craft and history festivals. It features more than 70 craftspeople in period clothing, demonstrating the arts of spinning, weaving, woodworking, broom making, molasses boiling and more. For more information, call 419-892-2784.

Ohio’s thriving grape industry celebrates the fall harvest during the Geneva Grape JAMboree, Sept. 26-27. About 1,500 acres of grapes are grown each year in the Geneva area. Savor the great taste of grapes as freshly squeezed juice, baked goods, ice cream and more, and then enjoy an overnight at Geneva State Park.

Step back in time during the Beaver Creek Fall Festival at the pioneer village on October 3-4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy demonstrations of antique farm machinery, old-fashioned technologies and pioneer skills by crafters and artists. The scene is set against the quaint backdrop of the historic village and Gaston’s Mill. For more information, call 330-385-3091 or 330-382-9227.

As fall settles in and the trees of Ohio’s orchards become heavy with fruit, Hueston Woods State Park will celebrate by hosting the Apple Butter Festival on October 3-4. The event, held at the pioneer farm, will give visitors a taste of various arts and crafts and features demonstrations of traditional apple butter making.
