I will be at the Venture Outdoors Festival on May 19th at the north Shore in Pittsburgh.
I’ve never been there before, but it looks like a blast. Tons of free stuff, lots of vendors and Organizations, Kids activities and More. Parking Is 5$.
I’ll be there scoping out the place and seeing what Information I can get. I hope to report on it after the event.
all the information is on the Venture Outdoors site.
On a related note, It is appearing that this site is becoming more Pittsburgh-centric. Maybe this is why.
I am really looking for sites and events in NorthEast Ohio. Please let me Know if you come across any.
In honor of Earth Day, The outdoor weblog has an interesting piece outlining the principles of leave no trace
As an outdoor enthusiast, I fully endorse these principles, as I’m sure most of us do. It’s important to leave or favorite locations the same way we found it for the next person. We beleive in conservation and preservation for the next guy.
But more importantly, we should be concerned about educating the non-sporting public about what we do and believe. I’ve been follwing a discussion on rock climbing in Mill Creek park in RockClimbing.com It’s been interesting primarily because climbing is not allowed in Mill Creek… These dedicated individuals are trying to change public perseption and policy. And to do that, they are presenting themselves as professionally as they can.
Shouldn’t we all?

The Vindicator ran a nice article on the remodeled CountrySide golf course in Today’s paper. The article can be found here
It Looks like the new owners went through a lot of trouble to get the course ready this season, adding a new irrigation system, cleaning and grooming the course, and paving new paths.
Already more than 500 golfers have signed up for league play, even with this horrible spring weather.
