COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio shutterbugs are encouraged to enter their best Baltimore oriole photos in the first Ohio Wildlife Legacy Stamp photo contest.
The winning photograph of this colorful orange-and-black bird will be featured on the inaugural Ohio Wildlife Legacy Stamp to be issued March 1, 2010. The contest is open to all Ohio residents, ages 18 years and older; one cash award will be given to the winning photographer. Photographers under the age of 17 are encouraged to submit their Baltimore oriole photos for Web and print recognition. Only photos received via U.S. mail between August 3 and 14 are eligible for consideration.
“This stamp was developed because we know that there are Ohioans who want to help in our wildlife-conservation efforts,” said David M. Graham, chief of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The $15 Ohio Wildlife Legacy Stamp will be available for purchase online in March at wildohio.com .
By purchasing the stamp, you will be supporting vital habitat restoration and research projects, land purchases and conservation easements and educational products for students and wildlife enthusiasts. A new, collectible stamp depicting a different animal will be issued each year to highlight the diversity of Ohio’s natural world.
“Purchasing this stamp will help provide much-needed funding for habitat and wildlife projects,” said Graham. “It’s a way for those who care about wildlife to invest today for tomorrow’s wild Ohio.” Discover more about the stamp by visiting wildohiostamp.com
