Take the Kids to Mill Creek Weekend
TweetI’m Sure It’s just me, But this seems like a great weekend to spend at Mill Creek and the various Metroparks. Younger Kids will love these activities, older ones might be amazed at what there is to do around here once the weather turns.
First, Check out the Year of the Frog April 25, Friday, 8:30 p.m.
To raise awareness about the extinction crisis of some of our tailless amphibian friends, 2008 has been declared Year of the Frog and Mill Creek Metroparks will be hosting a hike / lecture at the Vickers Nature Preserve in Ellsworth Township (On the North Side of 224) for an Easy 1 mile hike. Wear Boots.
Then On Saturday:Kite Festival April 26, Saturday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Take a bike ride on the Trailways path from Austintown to Canfield. Make Sure you stop at the MetroParks Farm to see kites of all descriptions and demonstrations of extraordinary kite-flying skills! Bring your kites, family, and friends to help us welcome spring. Vendors, games, and prizes will add to the fun. For details, call 330-740-7126.
Finally, take the Guided Tour of Fellows Riverside Gardens April 27, Sunday, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
Enjoy a leisurely spring walk to admire the golden drifts of daffodils. A guide will point out highlights while sharing anecdotes and history. Sign in at the Davis Center information desk. Stop at the Butler afterwards to see Rockwell’s Lincoln, the Art of the Warner Brothers, or the Western Art. Or rent a canoe at lake Glacier and chill on the cool water.
